some gentle climate

come work in some gentle climate
'neath blue moon one hopes to never forsake
one bandwidth of terminus
one trial before God and foes

dwell here while the climate is gentle
dwell here til the sauce disappears
and the minnows
sail by windows
in your ship safe from tears

get your britches on
this here’s a testimony
for the ill-begotten
square to rotten
half-hide to brown bone
(sun so close it beckons
without sharing its light
without demonstration
without closing or opening
just harboring its lust
for dusk):

dream a million stars in color
a thousand suns in as many minds
green with hope

which brings me to the weather
and its forceps
and how they clang
bowl-legged with pride
as if we’re all but midgets
in its quest

ive seen the sun set in the west
and its ribbons and rainbows colliding
with the gods
pony-tailed and vengeful
their wicked and twisted energy
a support line for destiny
and boxes of whirlpools
set for Saturn

come work in the gentle climate
wait tables for the parents
of well-heeled sorrows
dog-gone vipers
trouping their colour
in ragweed promenade.
come over the horse trails
now fidgeting through life
as freeways

don a cap, a red hat
try a bit
do the spin
ugly
a coin
bite, ache, toil
for no one
eat it
buy it
own it
it will ask
no more
of you
ride over
to here
with sock
in boot
on top
of us all
and grin

happiness is looking for you.
where are you?
